The Bellevue Investments GmbH & Co. KGaA is an investment holding company -Gesellschaft with numerous subsidiaries and associated companies in Germany and abroad. These have different business models and deal with software , online services , entertainment and content offers as well as real estate and financial investments. The holdings employ around 350 people.

The company was founded in 1993 by Jürgen Jaron, Dieter Rein and Erhard Rein in Munich under the name MAGIX. In 1998 the two Dresden software developers Tilman Herberger and Titus Tost took part. In the same year the administrative headquarters were relocated to Berlin. In 2001 the corporate form was changed from a GmbH to an AG. On April 6, 2006, MAGIX AG went public. The shares of MAGIX AG were listed in the official market and in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt stock exchange. The operational multimedia software business was transferred to the subsidiary MAGIX Software GmbH by way of a spin-off in 2012 with the approval of the Annual General Meeting. Since then, the company has acted purely as an investment holding company. After a change to the Entry Standard 2012, MAGIX AG presented in May 2014, a request for revocation of admission to the Open Market with a market withdrawal of November 30, 2014. On June 23, 2015 took place a change of form to MAGIX GmbH & Co. KGaA per entry in the commercial register at the district court of Charlottenburg. The holding company has been called Bellevue Investments GmbH & Co. KGaA since April 2016.

In the 2017/18 financial year, Bellevue Investments achieved an increase in earnings of 121% compared to the previous year with total assets up by 114%. The annual surplus of € 81.046 million (previous year: € 3.821 million) means a return on income of 81.6%.

Shareholder structure

The two main shareholders Jürgen Jaron and Dieter Rein held a total of 92.2% of the 8,844,979 no-par shares at the end of the 2018 financial year. Since the delisting process in May 2014, dividends have not been distributed despite the enormous balance sheet profits.

MAGIX Software GmbH

MAGIX Software GmbH is part of Bellevue Investments GmbH & Co. KGaA and is managed by Klaus Schmidt as CEO. It is an international software manufacturer specializing in video editing and music creation. The company is headquartered in Berlin . Further locations are Dresden and Lübbecke in Germany as well as Huizen in the Netherlands, Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom, Markham in Canada and in Reno and Madison in the USA. In May 2016, MAGIX acquired the products Acid Pro , Vegas Pro , Movie Studio, Sound Forge Pro , Sound Forge Audio Studio and SpectraLayers from the Sony Creative software product range. Bellevue Investments sold the majority of MAGIX Software GmbH to the private equity company Capiton AG in 2018 .

MAGIX Online Services GmbH

Since 2004, MAGIX has been offering online services such as the MAGIX Online Album and the MAGIX Website Maker and other services through MAGIX Online Services GmbH, which was founded especially for this purpose . In 2009, MAGIX Web Designer, software for creating your own websites, was also released.

MAGIX Online Services GmbH was closed in 2015.

Xara Group Ltd.

In 2007, MAGIX took over the English Xara Group Ltd. headquartered in Hemel Hempstead . Xara makes graphic software and programs for web design . It became known primarily with the Xara Designer Pro program , which is available in version 10 (as of September 2014).

The company was founded in 1981 and initially developed for various systems, for example the Atari ST , the BBC Micro or Acorn Archimedes . This is where “ArtWorks”, the direct predecessor of Xara Xtreme, was created. From 1996 Xara developed for Windows . With Xara 3D, Xara X or Xara Xtreme, the predecessors of the MAGIX 3D Maker, MAGIX Photo & Graphic Designer and Xara Designer Pro programs now sold by MAGIX were created .

Since 2009, MAGIX Web Designer has also been published specifically for creating websites. In 2013, DTP software was added with the MAGIX Page & Layout Designer .

In English-speaking countries, the products continue to appear under the brand name Xara.

mufin GmbH

mufin (pronounced like muffin ) stands for "Music Finder". Mufin GmbH has been wholly owned by Bellevue Investments since 2007. In 2005, Bellevue Investments already took over 66% of m2any GmbH, Garching, which has been operating under the name mufin GmbH since the takeover in 2007 and is based in Berlin. M2any GmbH emerged from a research project by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits , which is considered the inventor of the MP3 format.

Mufin's technologies are based on the AudioID - an acoustic fingerprint that enables the quick identification of pieces of music and other audio signals. The AudioID is part of the MPEG-7 standard .

In addition to music recognition, mufin works in the field of automatic content recognition, which can be built into second-screen applications as a service, for example .

Catooh Corp. / Appic Labs Corp.

In 2007, MAGIX acquired Catooh Corp. founded in Las Vegas , Nevada , USA . The corporation was entered in the local commercial register on April 5, 2007. It was used to process business with the online service Catooh operated by MAGIX , a marketplace for digital media. In 2013 the company was renamed Appic Labs Corp. renamed. Since then, the online service Catooh has been handled by MAGIX Computer Products International Corp., while Appic Labs deals with the development and marketing of mobile camera and photo applications.

JAM just add music GmbH

JAM GmbH was founded in 2011. She develops applications for mobile devices, e.g. B. the Music Maker Jam and Loudly for Windows , iOS and Android .

Expert Systems AG | ProvenExpert

Expert Systems AG was founded in 2011 and operates the service provider evaluation portal provenexpert.com, a platform for recommendation marketing , evaluation aggregation and customer satisfaction analysis.

simplitec GmbH

Simplitec GmbH is an international provider of system software. The current range of simplitec includes the products simplifast, simpliclean and simplisafe, all of which are sold in the simplitec Power Suite as an annual subscription .

Bellevue Property GmbH and Bellevue Immobilien GmbH are real estate development companies with commercial and residential properties in Dresden and Berlin.
