Bellino Ghirard

Bellino Giusto Ghirard (born May 25, 1935 in Seyches , Lot-et-Garonne , France ; † July 26, 2013 in Agen , France) was Bishop of Rodez .

Life

Bellino Ghirard entered the seminary in Agen after attending the Minor Seminary in Bon-Encontre (1947-1954) . In 1955 he moved to the seminary in Bordeaux (1955–56), Séminaire universitaire Pie XI et Institut catholique in Toulouse (1960–1963) and Strasbourg (1964) with degrees in scholasticism, philosophy, theology and Italian. He was ordained a priest on June 30, 1962 and taught at the Minor Seminary of Bon-Encontre (1963–1971). He was vicar in the parish of Notre-Dame de Bon-Encontre (1971–1978) and diocesan chaplain of Catholic Action (ACGF and VEA) (1975–1978). In 1978 he took over the parish in Marmande and the rural parishes of Birac and Sainte-Abondance (1978-1984). From 1984 to 1990 he was vicar general .

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Rodez on April 25, 1990 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Bishop of Rodez, Roger Joseph Bourrat , on June 17, 1990; Co - consecrators were Sabin-Marie Saint-Gaudens , Bishop of Agen , and Pierre Eyt , Archbishop of Bordeaux . With Roger Joseph Bourrat's resignation on June 1, 1991, he succeeded him in the office of Bishop of Rodez. On April 2, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
