Ben Barnes (actor)
Benjamin "Ben" Thomas Barnes (born August 20, 1981 in London , England ) is a British film and theater actor and singer .
Life
Ben Barnes is the son of a British father and a mother from South Africa who has German and Dutch roots. Ben's maternal grandfather comes from Kaiserslautern . Ben Barnes is also distantly related to former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger : Ben's great-great-great-grandfather Meyer Loeb Kissinger was also Henry Kissinger's great-great-grandfather; Meyer Loeb Kissinger was married twice. The first wife of Marianne David-Stahl was Ben Barnes great-great-great-grandmother; Meyer's second wife, Schoenlein David-Stahl, was Henry Kissinger's great-great grandmother.
Ben Barnes studied English literature and theater studies at Kingston University . He first drew attention to himself in 2004 when he appeared in the British preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 . The then 22-year-old was the oldest member of the four-piece boy band Hyrise , which, however, had to leave the competition in the first round. The band is now separated.
Nevertheless, Barnes was able to use his success and get his first theater engagements. In 2006 he also made his acting debut in an episode of the British hospital series Doctors . From 1997 to 2003 Ben Barnes was a member of the National Youth Music Theater . He also played a supporting role in the fantasy film Der Sternwanderer in autumn 2007 . He was also featured in the music video for The Sofa Song ( The Kooks ).
On February 3, 2007, the Times announced that Ben Barnes would play the lead and title role - Prince Caspian - in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian of Narnia , the second film in the Chronicles of Narnia . On September 9, 2009, The Portrait of Dorian Gray premiered in London , in which Barnes (as Dorian Gray ) can be seen alongside Colin Firth ( Lord Henry Wotton ).
In 2010 he played in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Journey on the Dawn again the role of King Caspian alongside Skandar Keynes (as Edmund Pevensie ) and Georgie Henley (as Lucy Pevensie ). Filming took place in Australia from August 2009. In 2014, the fantasy film Seventh Son was released , in which he starred alongside Jeff Bridges , Julianne Moore and Antje Traue . In 2015 he played in Sons of Liberty.
