Benedikt Posch

Benedikt Posch (born March 8, 1922 in Gries , Bozen , † June 29, 2001 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian journalist and publisher.

Life

Posch was the youngest of five sons of Edmund Georg Posch, chartered accountant, and Maria geb. Longer. From 1928 to 1935 he attended the elementary and commercial school in Gries and Bozen ( South Tyrol ), from 1935 to 1937 the commercial business school in Mehrerau / Bregenz and in 1941 the Reichsschule des Deutschen Buchhandels in Leipzig . In 1938 he went to the publishing house Ferrari-Auer , Bolzano apprenticed from 1938 to 1945 he continued his education autodidact. As an Austrian (German) citizen, Benedikt Posch was forcibly relocated from South Tyrol to Germany in 1939 ( option in South Tyrol ).

From 1939 to 1942 he was a bookseller's apprentice or assistant at Paulus-Verlag , Recklinghausen, and in 1941 he passed the bookseller exam in Leipzig. From 1942 to 1945 Posch was an Italian interpreter in a news agency as part of his military service.

Benedikt Posch married Cilly geb. Clemens on June 14, 1945 in Hall in Tirol . The marriage resulted in two sons: Thomas (* 1946) and Bernhard (* 1949).

On July 1, 1945 Posch entered the Verlagsanstalt Tyrolia , Innsbruck one, was in 1946 the editor and 1948 (then recent Austrian) the chief editor of the weekly newspaper The Volksbote ordered that in 1973 represented has been renamed. He held this position until May 1987. At that time he was the oldest Austrian editor-in-chief in years.

From 1953 to 1956, Benedikt Posch was the chairman of the Working Group of Catholic Journalists in Austria , and from 1956 to 1957 he was its deputy chairman. After all, Posch was deputy chairman of the Association of Catholic Publicists in Austria from 1957 . In addition, he was involved in the Bergisel Association .

In the years 1962 to 1985, Posch devoted himself as a board member or committee member to the needs of the disabled at Lebenshilfe Tirol - society for children with developmental disabilities .

Benedikt Posch died in 2001 at the age of 80 in Innsbruck and was buried there in the Westfriedhof.
