At the Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956 , Eriksson won the silver medal in the individual Nordic combined behind the Norwegian Sverre Stenersen . This makes Eriksson the most successful Swedish Nordic combined athlete at the Olympic Games to this day. Besides him, only Sven Israelsson could win the bronze medal in 1948. At the Swedish Championships in 1958 he won the gold medal on the normal hill. In March 1959 Eriksson won the Nordic Combined competition at the Czech Marusarzówna Memorial in Zakopane . In 1960 he was able to become Swedish champion again. In the same year Eriksson started at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley in the combination as well as in ski jumping. In ski jumping on the normal hill, Eriksson achieved 19th place after jumps on 83.5 and 78.0 m and 10th place in the individual Nordic combined. From 1961 Eriksson started in the Four Hills Tournament . Until 1963 he could not achieve any great success and ended his active career after the Four Hills Tournament in 1962/63 . In 1965 he received the Holmenkollen Medal for his achievements and successes together with the Finn Arto Tiainen and his compatriot Arne Larsen .
