Benhur Babaoğlu (born March 29, 1970 in Siirt ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Career

Athletic career

Babaoğlu began his career with Siirtspor in the 1988/89 season . In 1990 the striker moved to league rivals Malatyaspor and played there for two years. For the 1992/93 season he returned to Siirtspor and scored 19 goals in 36 league games. Galatasaray Istanbul became aware of him and signed him in the summer of 1993. Due to strong competition in the storm with Hakan Şükür , Arif Erdem , Uğur Tütüneker and Erdal Keser , Babaoğlu came to five league appearances. At the end of the season he became Turkish champion. Loans to Antalyaspor and Eskişehirspor followed .

In 1996 Babaoğlu went to city rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In his first season for Fenerbahçe, the striker played two league games and was then loaned to Yozgatspor and Diyarbakırspor . In 1999 Babaoğlu left Fenerbahçe and joined Yozgatspor. This was followed by one-year engagements at Sakaryaspor , Uşakspor and Beykozspor .

Coaching career

Benhur Babaoğlu worked as an assistant coach at Vefa Istanbul from October 2011 to June 2012 .
