The Berchtesgaden races took place on January 5th and 6th, 1967 near the German winter sports resort Berchtesgaden am Jenner . They were the very first races in the Alpine Ski World Cup and part of the 1967 World Cup organized by the French sports newspaper L'Équipe . In order to highlight the special features of this new format, the first race, the men's slalom in Berchtesgaden on January 5th, was even measured in thousandths of a second.
