Berdibek Maschbekuly Saparbajew ( Kazakh Бердібек Машбекұлы Сапарбаев , Russian Бердыбек Машбекович Сапарбаев Berdybek Maschbekowitsch Saparbajew * 9. February 1953 in Talan , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician. Since February 10, 2020 he has been Äkim (governor) of the Shambyl region .

Life

Saparbayev was born in 1953 in the village of Talan (now Besaryq) in what is now the Kyzylorda region . From December 1971 to October 1973 he did military service in the Soviet Army . He graduated from the Institute of Economics in Alma-Ata in 1977 .

After graduating, he initially worked in various positions in the Ministry of Finance of the Kazakh SSR. From 1988 he was Deputy Minister of National Education of the Kazakh SSR, before becoming head of the Finance, Labor and Social Security Department in the President's Office in 1993. From March to September 1995, Saparbayev was the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In September 1995 he was appointed Akim (governor) of the Qysylorda region . He held this post for almost five years before he was appointed Äkim of South Kazakhstan on July 28, 1999 . Between 2002 and 2006, he was Chairman of the Kazakh Customs Inspectorate, Deputy Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance. From 2006 to 2007 he was Deputy Head of the Prime Minister's Office and from February to August 2007 he was Vice Minister for Economy and Budget Planning. On August 27, 2007, he was appointed Minister for Labor and Social Protection in the cabinet of Prime Minister Kärim Mässimow . From March 4, 2009, he was Äkim of East Kazakhstan and, since November 11, 2014, by a presidential decree, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. Since September 11th, 2015 he was Äkim of the Aqtöbe area .

After a change of government beginning in 2019 he was in the cabinet of Asqar Mamin again Minister of Labor and Social Protection. After a few months as Minister of Labor, he became Deputy Prime Minister on August 20, 2019. He has been the Akim of the Shambyl region since February 10, 2020 after his predecessor Asqar Myrzakhmetov was fired as a result of the violent mass unrest in the Qordai region .
