Bernd Blisch

Bernd Blisch (born December 16, 1962 in Flörsheim am Main ) is a German historian and politician ( CDU ). He is the author of several local and regional historical publications . He has been the mayor of Flörsheim am Main since 2018 .

Life

Career

Blisch attended the primary school in his place of birth and then the district high school in Hofheim am Taunus . He then studied history , German and English in Mainz and Birmingham from 1984 to 1989 with a master's degree . From 1989 to 1993, Blisch was a research assistant at the Chair of General and Modern History at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , with teaching assignments since 1994. From 1993 to 1995 he was a town historian ( home keeper ) and town archivist and deputy press spokesman for the town of Flörsheim am Main. From 1995 to 2001 he was head of the local cultural office. Since 2001 he has been employed as a research assistant for the state capital Wiesbaden ( City Museum project office ). In 2005, Blisch received his doctorate in Mainz . He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Flörsheimer Bürgerstiftung , whose management he was from 1999 to 2001.

politics

Blisch is deputy chairman of the CDU city association. He is a city ​​councilor and a member of the Committee for Social Affairs and Culture and the Works Commission for the town halls of Flörsheim am Main.

Blisch won the mayoral election in Flörsheim am Main on May 27, 2018, as an independent candidate for an alliance of four made up of the CDU, Green Alternative List Flörsheim (GALF), Free Citizens and FDP against long-time incumbent Michael Antenbrink ( SPD ) with 61.2% a turnout of 49.3%. Blisch took office on November 1, 2018.
