Bernd Rosemeyer (medical doctor)

Bernd Rosemeyer (born November 12, 1937 in Berlin ; † May 31, 2020 ) was a German doctor , professor of orthopedics , sports medicine and author of medical books . He was the son of the racing driver Bernd Rosemeyer and the aviation pioneer Elly Beinhorn .

Life

Bernd Rosemeyer jr was born on November 12, 1937 as the son of racing driver Bernd Rosemeyer and aviation pioneer Elly Beinhorn .

He completed his medical studies in Kiel, Innsbruck, Munich and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in 1962 and became a specialist in orthopedics in 1971 , from 1972 with the additional qualification " sports medicine ". In 1974 he completed his habilitation at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and from 1980 taught as an adjunct professor at the Harlaching University Clinic . He was employed there for almost 30 years, most recently as medical director . In 1986 he accepted the chair for orthopedics at the University of Munich. In the 1980s he appeared as a professor on the ZDF program Enorm in Form . In 1997 he moved to the Josephinum Private Clinic . He then worked in the joint orthopedic and surgical practice in the Medical Care Center at Nordbad in Munich and, until recently, was chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Munich. Until 1994 he was co-editor of the sports orthopedic journal Sportverletzung-Sportschaden and then of the sports orthopedics-sports traumatology (1995-1998).

He was married to the interior designer and entrepreneur Michaela Rosemeyer-Countess zu Castell-Rüdenhausen (1945–2011), a daughter of the Austrian actress Luise Ullrich and Wulf-Diether Graf zu Castell-Rüdenhausen . There were two children from this marriage.

Bernd Rosemeyer died on May 31, 2020 at the age of 82.
