Bernd Stocker

Bernd Stöcker (born August 17, 1952 in Bremen ) is a contemporary German sculptor , sculptor and graphic artist who has been working as a freelancer since 1983. His main focus is figurative works in bronze and stone.

Life

From 1974, Bernd Stöcker studied educational science and graphic design with Detlef Birgfeld and sculpture with Ulrich Rückriem in Hamburg , before he turned to study freelance sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with Alfred Hrdlicka in 1977 .

Since 1982 he has been traveling regularly to the Atlantic coast near Bordeaux. From 2004 to 2005 he held a teaching position at the professorship for sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg .

Bernd Stöcker lives and works in Triftern , Lower Bavaria. He is married to the painter and sculptor Ingrid Baumgärtner. The couple has three children.

Bernd Stöcker's works can be found in various German cities in public spaces and in sacred buildings. Among other things, he created a statically standing, ready-to-take-off Icarus (Puchheim near Munich) and the body-present Christ on the cross with Magdalena crouching ahead (Hildegard Church, Mannheim-Käfertal).
