Bernhard Gombert
Bernhard Gombert (born July 4, 1932 in Kalterherberg ; † December 4, 2013 in Düren ) was a Catholic pastor .
Life
Gombert studied at the University of Bonn theology . This was followed by the seminary in Aachen . After his studies he was in 1960 Aachen Cathedral by Bishop John Pohlschneider for ordained priests . After that he was chaplain in the parish of St. Josef in Aachen for seven years and in St. Bonifatius in Düren for two years . At that time he was already very youth-oriented, taking the youth to the outdoor pool in Kreuzau . He drove it a racing bike and was with a tracksuit dressed, which was unusual at the time. With the youth he founded the Vennwanderclub. He regularly drove to his home in the Eifel to go hiking. After the two chaplain positions in the diocese of Aachen , he became pastor of St. Anna for 33 years from December 1969 and thus city pastor. During this time he was dean of the dean's office for 16 years .
After he retired, he was a subsidiar in the Schlich parish from 2003 to 2013 .
Among other things, Bernhard Gombert campaigned for the new building of the retirement home and the Pope Johannes House and also for the expansion of the St. Anna kindergarten . Two foundations bear Bernhard Gombert's name: the Pfarrer Gombert Foundation in Schlich supports pastoral measures in Schlich and the “Dechant Gombert Foundation” in Düren has its sights firmly set on the former parish of St. Anna (now GDG St. Lukas). The “Foundation for Children and Youth Music” was also created on Gombert's initiative. He also initiated aid projects in Bolivia , including the Poconas children's home.
Dean Bernhard Gombert was buried on December 10, 2013 in the priest's grave at the New Düren-Ost cemetery.
Awards
- In 1981 Gombert became an honorary officer in the Düren Prinzengarde.
- The city council of Düren decided in March 2018 to rename part of the street Höfchen to Pastor-Gombert-Straße because of his services.
