Bernhard von Schubert (* 14. November 1951 in Heinum ; † 23. January 2017 in Gütersloh ) was a German entrepreneur , who in the thoroughbred breeding and horse racing has been engaged.

career

Von Schubert studied economics at the University of St. Gallen , where he also received his doctorate . He belonged to the von Schubert family from Bielefeld . Together with his wife Ingeborg geb. Kaselowsky he had a son Paul. In 1982 Ingeborg and Bernhard von Schubert joined the management of Gundlach Holding . He was the managing partner of the Gundlach Group.

Since 2005 he has been professor for media economics and media management at the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands in Bielefeld.

Horse racing

He was an entrepreneur in whole blood - horse breeding and horse racing active and has at the racetrack Hoppegarten and in the International Club Baden-Baden taken over important functions and was later shareholder in Baden Racing. In 2000 he arranged the takeover of the insolvent DSV Deutsche Sportverlag from Cologne by the Gundlach Group. Ebbesloh stud

In 1926 Richard Kaselowsky founded the Ebbesloh Thoroughbred Stud in Gütersloh in Ebbesloh . In 1996 his granddaughter, Ingeborg von Schubert, wife of Bernhard von Schubert, took over the stud. Ebbesloh stud is one of the operators of Peter Schiergen's aster bloom stable in Cologne . The most important horse of the stud was the alchemist- grandson Mangon , acquired from stud Waldfried , who showed great potential, but died after three years at the stud. The most important Ebbesloh dam mare was the Surumu daughter Golden Time , who produced three group winners and two other list winners: Oaks d'Italia winner Goose Bay , winner of the Badener Meile Gereon and the prize from Europe winner Girolamo . More recent important horses of the stud are the Prix de Pomone winner Avanti Polonia and Empoli , who also won the European Prize in 2014. Girolamo has been a stallion at the stud for several years. In 2020, the French Derby winner Brametot, bred from a half sister to Monsun, was leased as a well-known stallion.
