Bernhard von Simson

Bernhard Simson , from 1888 by Simson (born February 19, 1840 in Königsberg , East Prussia , † August 15, 1915 in Charlottenburg near Berlin ), was a German historian .

The son of Eduard Simson , who was raised to the Prussian hereditary nobility in 1888, went to school after studies at the University of Königsberg , where he received his doctorate in 1860 on Einhard's participation in the Reichsannalen , and at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Berlin . and then switch to the archive service where before 1863 Jena University habilitated and in 1874 in Freiburg im Breisgau his position in life as a history professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-University found (since 1874 as associate professor, since 1877 as a full professor).

Simson presented a number of material-rich works, especially on medieval history. He worked for the Monumenta Germaniae Historica and the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie . In 1887 he was accepted as a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

Bernhard von Simson died on August 15, 1915 at the age of 75 in Charlottenburg. He was buried on August 18 in Berlin Cemetery III of the Jerusalem and New Churches in front of the Hallesches Tor . The grave has not been preserved.
