The Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium (also called BvSG or BvS for short ) is a modern language high school with AbiBac branch for girls and boys in the school center of Andernach in Rhineland-Palatinate . The main catchment area is shared by the Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium with the Kurfürst-Salentin-Gymnasium and extends to the entire district of Mayen-Koblenz.

The school is named after the Austrian pacifist , peace researcher , writer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Bertha von Suttner . The Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium is oriented towards modern languages ​​and offers the languages ​​English, French and Latin.

What is special about this is the nature of the French lessons, as you can start with French as your first foreign language in the fifth grade and English is then only taught as a minor subject for these students in the fifth grade. In the orientation level, these students also have two additional hours of French lessons per week, which are intended to provide them with a knowledge of French culture that goes beyond the usual. In the seventh grade, these pupils can start bilingual lessons on the recommendation of the teacher. In this class you will learn geography and history for one hour a week in German and two hours a week in French (Géo and Histoire). They also have a French textbook. The students of the bilingual branch can decide in the tenth grade whether they want to continue these lessons in the upper level and thus take their Abitur exams in German and also their Baccalauréat exam in front of a French examiner. This enables the students to acquire the German-French double degree AbiBac.
