The Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium (short: BvS ) is one of two high schools in Neu-Ulm . The school was named after the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Austrian pacifist Bertha von Suttner .

description

The Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium was founded in 1975. The main catchment areas are the suburbs and northern districts of Neu-Ulm. These include Pfuhl , Burlafingen, Steinheim , Offenhausen , Elchingen and Nersingen .

The school offers a mathematical and scientific branch as well as a modern language branch. Is promoted to school, among other things by the development association friends and former pupils of the Bertha von Suttner eV

Project work

The grammar school is one of the UNESCO project schools that are particularly funded by UNESCO . The high school takes part in the “Network University High School Industry (NUGI)” project initiated by Stupperich in 1996 from the University of Ulm Microbiology Department. The NUGI project aims to provide modern, experimental and multimedia-enabled biology teaching .

As early as 1998/1999, an energy saving working group was set up in which pupils and teachers, in collaboration with the Ulm University of Applied Sciences, examined the potential for savings at the school. This working group was created through a call from the Neu-Ulm district . It was found that a lot of energy is lost due to a fault in the heating control circuit. The working group was awarded the Tutzinger Foundation Prize for the Promotion of Environmental Education in 2000. The Solarenergie-AG later emerged from this work.
