Bertouch , formerly Bertuch , is the name of a family originally from Thuringia . In Denmark it was accepted into the Danish nobility due to the assumed descent from a Brabant noble family Berthout . In the 19th century a scion entered royal Prussian service. Branches still exist today, one of them in Australia .

history

origin

The uninterrupted line of the family begins with Christoph Bertuch , who married around 1640. He was a citizen and white baker in Gotha .

relocation

His descendant Georg Bertuch was born in 1668 in Helmershausen , Thuringia . After studying music at a young age, he became a composer . He later embarked on a military career and was promoted to Danish-Norwegian general . He died as commandant of Akershus Fortress in Oslo in 1743 .

Nobility naturalization

Due to the assumed descent from a Brabant noble family Berthout, the brothers Ernst Albrecht , royal Danish chamberlain and envoy to Poland , Frederik Ferdinand , royal Danish captain , and Frederik Julian Christian de Bertouch received the Danish nobility naturalization on June 11, 1777 .

Baronate

On March 13, 1819 , Poul Godske von Bertouch , on Barony Sønderkarle, was given the Danish baronate with the name Bertouch-Lehn by the highest resolution . He received the corresponding diploma with a coat of arms association with that of the Danish noble family Lehn on February 1, 1828.

Ernst Rudolf von Bertouch, royal Danish attaché , the title of baron was recognized by the Danish heraldry on January 23, 1839 .

Another move

Ernst von Bertouch (1821-1904), royal Prussian chamberlain and Government , its needle guide has not been challenged in Prussia. He was initially a top civil servant in the service of the Danish king. Around 1850 he worked in Nordstrand , later he worked as a Prussian civil servant in Wiesbaden . In addition, he was active as a writer with works on nobility and religious orders .

Baron coat of arms

The baronial coat of arms, awarded in 1819, is also quartered and additionally covered with a heart shield with a red shield head , inside a golden crown; below in silver a blue pole covered with a floating silver high cross ( Lehn family coat of arms ); two helmets, the right helmet with black and gold covers and the growing bear, the left with blue and silver covers and two silver buffalo horns (Lehn). Shield holder : Two wild men with wooden clubs.
