Life

After studying design at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences from 1979 to 1985, Bettina Lüdicke initially worked as a freelance textile designer until 1994 . After moving to Berlin, she studied there from 1994 to 1997 with Barbara Erdmann at the Hochschule der Künste . Since then she has been working as a freelancer. Your work is extremely diverse. Starting with drawing , her work went on to work with copper wire. In the last few years she has developed into a distinguished sculptor. While her aunt, the sculptor Marianne Lüdicke , often captures her figures in bronze, Bettina Lüdicke prefers the Franconian shell limestone for sculpture . In her works one often encounters forms that do not occur in nature - and yet can occur. Her stone work shows basic interpersonal relationships. It is precisely the abstraction of forms that defines Bettina Lüdicke's work.

In 2013 Bettina Lüdicke received the jury award for sculpture from the LebensArt Foundation in Cologne.

Quotes

"Delicate and filigree, bound and curved, structures made entirely of gaps, formed from air and wire, formed from the thin lines, the tension between body and space, outside and inside, the not yet or no longer touch: on this one The artistic concept of Bettina Lüdicke starts in an unstable place, a concept that cannot be described as anything other than the creation of space. What is to be won are translations, transformations for the inner spaces, the spatiality of existence, the keyboard of sensations, which vibrate as soon as the space happens to us, becomes conscious. How it happens to us when the impressions of distance and closeness, vastness and oppressive narrowness, also immoderate freedom, pass into states of inner excitement.

- Nancy Hünger : Catalog of the exhibition Sculpture-Body-Space

“Nothing remains hidden in the artist's work, the delicately vibrating interior is enveloped in fragile and extremely delicate lines. The shadow lines are dependent on the whole and yet have a life of their own. The inside of Bettina Lüdicke's work is just as important as the outside. The air permeates the works and reaches the center from which the strength and balance emanate. Her works allow our gaze to penetrate and follow the path to the origin. It shows us the clearest outline and invites us to direct our gaze from the obvious to the reflection of reality. "
