Rhine Valley District

The Rhine Valley district was an administrative unit of the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland from 1803 to 1831 . It formed the part of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley between Rheineck and Rüthi .

Since the founding of the canton of St. Gallen in 1803, the Rheintal district consisted of the communities Thal , Rheineck , St. Margrethen , Au , Berneck , Diepoldsau , Balgach , Rebstein , Marbach , Altstätten , Eichberg , Oberriet and Rüthi .

In 1831 the Rheintal district was divided into the Upper Rhine Valley and the Lower Rhine Valley district .
