Siddharthanagar (formerly Bhairahawa ) is a city ( municipality ) in the central Terai of Nepal on the border with India , approx. 256 km west of Kathmandu . The Tinau River flows west of the city.

The city is the administrative seat of the Rupandehi District . The term "Bhairahawa" is still in use.

The city has an airfield about 3 km west of the center with regular connections to Kathmandu. Siddhartanagar is also an important border crossing point and the end point of the Siddhartha Rajmarg highway from Pokhara . The urban area covers 36.03 km².

At the 2011 census, the city of Siddharthanagar had 63,483 inhabitants (31,673 of them male) in 12,497 households.
