The Bielener Lake (also Bielener pond , Bielener gravel water or gravel pit ) is a quarry pond with a swimming area southeast of Nordhausen ( Thuringia ). The lake is named after the neighboring district of Bielen in Nordhausen .
The lake lies between the Zorge River and the railway line towards Halle . It was created through gravel mining in the 1960s, which was discontinued in the early 1990s. At times the lake was used for trout breeding.
In the north-western area of Lake Biel there is an approximately 300-meter-long bathing area with a sunbathing lawn with nudist area, toilets, parking lots, kiosk, beach volleyball courts and a campground.
