Bee Boy & Flower Girl is a German short film from 2015 . It was produced by the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in cooperation with Südwestrundfunk and published on April 15, 2015.

Peter's parents are killed by killer bees when he was 12 years old. Since then he has lived alone and wears a protective suit all the time for fear of perishing himself . On a sunny day he walks through the streets and meets the waitress Elsa in a café, who collects flowers from all over the world. They fall in love. However, they cannot be together with the protective suit and Elsa makes a kind of flower that devours bees trying to get the nectar . Then all the bees are devoured and Peter lives outside of the protective suit and he moves in with Elsa. After a while the bees return and Elsa also has to wear a protective suit. With that, however, she can no longer work as a waitress or make flowers.
Production and shooting
The film is a co-production of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy and the SWR . Several sponsors were also involved in financing the project.
The shooting, which lasted about a week, took place in 2015 under the working title The Swarm . The film was shot in Baden-Württemberg in the vicinity of Stuttgart and on the Breitenauer See .
Around 30 students from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy and a few helpers were involved in the shooting. The equipment included three small trucks and a crane. The main actors Florian Prokop and Elisa Schlott had come from Berlin for the shooting. Prokop spent about 30 hours in the protective suit. For the final scene in which both jump into a lake, a lifeguard from the DLRG was on site.

The film premiered on April 11, 2015 at the Mitteldeutscher Kurzfilmfestival (Kurzsuechtig) in Leipzig . It screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015 and at the Denver International Film Festival in November 2015. In December 2015 it was shown at the 21st Filmschau Baden-Württemberg in the competition for the Baden-Württemberg Film Prize .
The film was first broadcast on television on May 13, 2016 in 3sat's night program .
