Critic Leslie Mathew of the music website Allmusic rated the album four out of five stars and notes that this compilation illustrates the dichotomy in the band between the performance of virtuoso hard rock musicians and the simultaneous desire for success of a pop musician . While the title The Electric Drill Song shows the excellent musicality of guitarist Paul Gilbert and bassist Billy Sheehan , To Be with You is just a ballad . Since the group has failed to pair good songwriting and virtuoso compositions for most of their career , show Big, Bigger, Biggest! The Best of Mr. Big the maximum of Mr. Big in one album. In Japan, the album reached number two on the album charts and was awarded a quadruple platinum record by the Recording Industry Association of Japan . According to Oricon , the album sold more than a million times in Japan.
