The Bijlsma Trader 4500 is a type of coaster from the Dutch shipyard Bijlsma Shipyard in Lemmer .

history

Three units of the Bijlsma Trader 4500 were built in 2002 for the Irish shipping company Arklow Shipping. Five more units were built between 2008 and 2011 for Dutch captain ship owners. The ships are operated by Wagenborg . The hulls for the units operated by Wagenborg were supplied by other shipyards. The two series built for Arklow Shipping and Wagenborg differ slightly.

description

The ships built for Arklow Shipping are powered by a four - stroke six - cylinder diesel engine from the manufacturer Caterpillar . The MaK  6M25 motors have an output of 1,800 kW and act on a controllable  pitch propeller via a reduction gear . The ships can thus reach 11.5  kn . Two diesel engines from the manufacturer Sisu , each with an output of 140 kW, drive two generators from the manufacturer Stamford, each with an apparent power of 175  kVA . A wave generator with 435 kVA apparent power is also available. The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with an output of 260 kW.

The ships operated by Wagenborg are equipped with a four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine from the manufacturer Wärtsilä. The 6L26A motors have an output of 1,860 kW. Two diesel generators, each with 188 kW output (235 kVA apparent power) and a shaft generator with 312 kW output (390 kVA apparent power) are available for power generation. The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with an output of 250 kW.

The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. It can accommodate seven crew members . The hold is in front of the deckhouse . It is 62.40 m long and 11.70 m wide, the hatch is 62.40 m long and 11.50 m wide. The height of the room is 8.43 m. The cargo space is 6,060 m³ and mostly box-shaped. It tapers slightly in its foremost area. The hold is closed with ten pontoon hatch covers, which can be moved using a hatch trolley. The ships are equipped with two bulkheads with which the hold can be divided. The bulkheads can be set up in seven positions on the ships built for Arklow Shipping, and six on the units built later. The tank top can be loaded with 15 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.6 t / m².

The ships are suitable for the transport of containers . The capacity is 106  TEU , of which 68 TEU in space and 38 TEU on deck.

additional

On January 26, 2017, the Cembrook (IMO No. 9731547) was delivered, a cement freighter whose hull is based on the type of ship. The hull was built in 2013 at the Czech shipyard Nova Ceske Lodenice in Děčín and towed across the Elbe and the North Sea to Lemmer, where the ship was completed under construction number 760. To increase the load-bearing capacity, the hull was lengthened by 10 meters to 99.95 meters compared to the standard version.
