Bilecik (formerly also Biledjik , Thracian Agrilion , ancient Greek Βηλοκώμα Belikoma ) is a Turkish city and capital of the province of the same name Bilecik on the Karasu Çayı River . At the same time, it is also the center of the central district (Merkez). The history of the settlement goes back to the 2nd millennium BC. BC back. The former most populous village of Pelİtözü (2017: 1,074 inhabitants) has been a district ( Mahalle ) of the provincial capital ( Pelİtözü Mahallesİ , 2018: 1,052 inhabitants) since 2018.
