Bill George (special effects artist)

Bill George is a film technician who specializes in visual effects . In addition, he is also active as a model maker .

Life

George works for the Industrial Light & Magic (short: ILM) company founded by George Lucas . As a teenager, he rummaged through dustbins outside an ILM building in Van Nuys to look for souvenirs to search. While working at ILM, he designed his own Y-wing based on those from the Star Wars film A New Hope . Lucas liked this model very much and prompted him to use it in Return of the Jedi , as the original two versions of the Y-wings were no longer considered suitable.

George has worked on two Harry Potter films, a Jurassic Park film, three Star Trek films and a Pirates of the Caribbean film over the course of his career . He was nominated for an Oscar for each of the films The Journey into the Self and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban , which he also won for The Journey into the Self .
