Bindu 2012

Bindu , actually Bindu Desai (born April 17, 1941 in Valsad , Gujarat ) is an Indian actress . Other sources give Bindu's date of birth as January 17, 1951 (including the Indian page of Wikipedia).

Career

Bindu is the daughter of the film producer Nanubhai Desai and his wife Jyotsna Desai, a stage actress. She grew up in the village of Hanuman Bhagda in Valsad District . Her father died when she was 13 years old; as the oldest child, she now had to look after the family.

Bindu made her debut in 1962 in the role of Kiran , the well-educated daughter of an illiterate, in the musical family drama Anpadh , after she played an extra role in the 1960 romantic drama Ek Phool Char Kaante . Initial successes came with roles in the mystery thriller Ittefaq and the family drama Do Raaste (both 1969). She achieved great fame for her role as the vamp Shabnam in the drama Kati Patang , which is one of the fifty most successful films of the 1970s in India. The dance "Mera Naam Shabbo" that she showed there is still considered one of the highlights of the film today. She was able to record another success in 1973 with the musical drama Abhimaan . In the family dramas Imtihan and Hawas , both published in 1974, she was fascinated on the one hand as the seductress Rita and on the other hand as the nymphomaniac Kamini Singh. But that she could also do otherwise, she proved in the drama Chaitali from 1975, in which she played Bindu Prabha, a crippled woman, and in the family drama Arjun Pandit , in which she was also cast in a less glamorous role.

Since the early 1970s, Bindu has been one of the most successful actresses in India. With her early roles, she succeeded in refuting the myth that married actresses, as a rule, cannot become sex symbols in the Hindi film industry.

In the early 1980s, after a personal stroke of fate, Bindu returned to the screen in different roles, such as the action drama Hero (1983), the dramatic comedy Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988) and the action drama Kishen Kanhaiya (1990). In the musical comedy Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! (1994) she appeared in the role of the cynical aunt. Bindu is also known for playing Missis Kakkad in the 2004 dramatic crime comedy I'm Always There for You! In the 2007 Hindi film Om Shanti Om , she embodied the Kamini. Her last cinematic work to date was in 2013 in the action film Dushman Ke Khoon Paani Hai . Her oeuvre up to this point comprised 248 productions.

Private

At the age of 21, Bindu married the businessman Champaklal Zaveri. After a miscarriage, her doctors advised her not to use glamorous dance routines in her films. The actress, who is interested in horse racing, lives in Koregaon Park in Pune .
