Lars Birger Ekeberg

Lars Birger Ekeberg (born August 10, 1880 in Uppsala ; † November 30, 1968 in Engelbrekts, Stockholm ) was a Swedish lawyer and Reichsmarschall .

Life

Ekeberg completed his law studies in 1902 and was then appointed lecturer. In 1907 he received his doctorate in law . He then became a professor of law (private and tax law ) at Stockholm University until 1925 . In 1915 he was also responsible for civil law.

Between October 27, 1920 and October 13, 1921 and April 19, 1923 and October 18, 1924, Ekeberg was the Swedish Minister of Justice. In 1925 he was appointed to the Justitieråd at the Supreme Court in Sweden. He was court president of Svea hovrätt from 1931 to 1946.

He became a member of the Swedish Academy on November 1, 1945, succeeding Birger Wedberg, and took office on December 20, 1945. From 1937 to 1955 Ekeberg was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague . From 1946 to 1959 he was the Swedish Reich Marshal .

The Swedish government appointed him director of the Stockholm School of Commerce from 1940 to 1957 .

family

Birger Ekeberg married Brita Swartz (1890–1983), the daughter of Carl Swartz , in 1911 . Both were buried in the old Uppsala cemetery. Their daughter Dagmar was married to Torwald Hesser, who was also a judge at the highest court.
