Until now is a compilation - album of the singer and songwriter Hannes Wader from the year 1987th

Emergence

This album is a sound document for Wader's 20th anniversary on stage and was recorded at a concert in November 1986 and mixed in February 1987 by Ben Ahrens, who was also the producer of this album. Other live albums by the songwriter are: That nothing stays as it was (1982), appearance: Hannes Wader (1998), Was für eine Nacht (2001, with Konstantin Wecker) and Mey Wader Wecker - the concert (2003).

Hannes Wader had ups and downs in 20 years. In the 1970s he was the star of the left-wing alternative scene, politically overactive and critical. Knut Kiesewetter is considered to be the songwriter's discoverer. He produced his first album with him, Hannes Wader singt… (1969). On his second album I had still planned so much (1971) he already used the guitar style that should make him so famous and unmistakable. Then came the anger about Gudrun Ensslin and his entry into the DKP (see page Hannes Wader - The 70s: Hannes Wader and politics ). At the latest, the media boycott because of his entry into the DKP made him temporarily forgotten and to this day prevented him not only from building up, but also maintaining, a popularity similar to Reinhard Mey . From 1974 to 1978 he was mainly a folk singer, only to become more political again in the late 1970s and early 80s with the albums Again on the Road (1979) and It's Time (1980). Between 1974 and 1980 he only released one album of his own compositions: Kleines Testament (1986).

After this tour, Wader withdrew from the public for a long time. He didn't go into a studio for three years. He worked on his Hamburg song cycle, which finally appeared on the album Nach Hamburg (1989).

He did a retrospective and also brought songs from the current albums Glut am Horizont (1985) and Liebeslieder (1986) and his most important older songs such as Flowers of the Poor , The Pied Piper , Charley and Hotel zur long twilight . He sang the port melody from the album Es ist An der Zeit .

Others

  • The sound was mixed by Ben Ahrens, who is also the producer.
  • For the first time in a long time, Wader did not work with his band, which accompanied him live and on all studio albums from the early 80s. There was only Reinhard Bärenz (guitar, guitar synthesizer) left.
  • The song Der Rattenfänger is in two versions on the CD. A complete version is contrasted with an out-take from an earlier concert in the Kaffee G. concert hall , also recorded live. Wader "gets tangled up" several times in the fifth stanza ("When the moon was shining, I mended my rags ...") and jokingly announced that he would never want to perform again if he did not manage to do it again End song correctly. He sucks again, but adds to this announcement that it was limited to the G. coffee . The next time everything works out and Wader can obviously play the Pied Piper to the end. The out-take disappears shortly afterwards.
  • In between the song book That nothing remains as it was appeared , which contained all his songs (1984 - Plans - Aris)
