Meaning of the lyrics

The song We'll See is a revised version of a speech given by Chief Seattle to the American Congress. Already the title Pablo , which is on the album Not only I alone , dealt with the problems of the Indians , their annihilation and extermination.

The song Damals is to be seen autobiographically and is about the young Wader before his breakthrough. The hope of young singer-songwriters to make a breakthrough also resonates here. The well-known original comes from the Australian songwriter Kevin Johnson and is called Rock'n Roll (I gave you all the best years of my life) .

The title parting describes a relationship that broke up and in which the woman left the man. Detlef Petersen wrote the music for this title. Another title shows Reinhard Bärenz as a composer. It is the title Dioxin , which satirically deals with the mutation of a child by dioxins . In both cases the text comes from Hannes Wader.

The most famous song on this album is Am Fluss , which was performed several times by the songwriter in various television programs on the occasion of the 20th stage anniversary in 1986. There were also many interviews with the artist on the occasion.

The song Johnny - Letter from Mary Cleveland, Ohio to Johnny, Soldier of the US Army, Mainz , as it is fully entitled, is the second political song on this album. It critically deals with the subject of war in general and the Vietnam War in particular, with racial prejudice, the social problems of the young generation and other issues relevant at the time.

The title Landesknecht tells of a farmhand in the Thirty Years' War , who is on the run from his masters and enemies and who becomes a mercenary. In the end, reality catches up with him and meets his enemies again. This title gives an insight into the structure of society at that time and the living conditions and conditions.
