Hannes Wader sings Shanties is an album by the singer and songwriter Hannes Wader from 1978.
meaning
Hannes Wader has also been known as such since the album Volkssänger (1975) at the latest . He had already dealt with the songs of the people through the album Plattdeutsche Lieder (1974). Hannes Wader also devoted himself to German songs with the albums Hannes Wader singt Arbeiterlieder (1976) and Hannes Wader singt Volkslieder (1990), which once again followed up his time as a folk singer .
Wader made the folk song popular again and had taken it out of the political right corner into which it had gotten through abuse by the National Socialists . Since then, singing folk songs was no longer frowned upon, which is evident from the fact that other groups in the folk movement and songwriter scene have also devoted themselves to traditional German songs (e.g. Zupfgeigenhansel and Liederjan ).
