The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bongaigaon ( Latin Dioecesis Bongaigaonensis , English Diocese of Bongaigaon ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Bongaigaon .

history

The diocese of Bongaigaon was established on May 10, 2000 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Ultraflumen from cession of territory to the Archdiocese of Guwahati and subordinated to this as a suffragan . The first bishop was Thomas Pulloppillil .

The Bongaigaon diocese includes the districts of Barpeta , Bongaigaon , Dhubri , Kokrajhar and Nalbari in the state of Assam .
