The Bistum Hwange ( lat. : Dioecesis Huangensis ) is in Zimbabwe preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Hwange . It includes the districts of Hwange , Binga and part of Lupane (north of the Shabula River ) in Matabeleland North Province .
history
With the Apostolic Constitution Ad Christi religionem, Pope Pius II founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Wankie on June 29, 1953 from cedings of the Apostolic Vicariates Bulawayo and Salisbury . The mission was entrusted to the Congregation Instituto Español de San Francisco Javier .
She was raised on March 1, 1963 with the bull Mirum Ecclesiae to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Salisbury as a suffragan diocese. On June 17, 1991 it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Gokwe diocese . On June 10, 1994 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Bulawayo.
