The Roman Catholic Diocese of Matadi ( Latin Dioecesis Matadiensis , French Diocèse de Matadi ) is in the Democratic Republic of Congo situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Matadi .

history

The diocese of Matadi was established on July 1, 1911 by Pope Pius X from the cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Léopoldville as the Apostolic Prefecture of Matadi . The Apostolic Prefecture of Matadi was founded on July 23, 1930 by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Nos quibus raised to the Apostolic Vicariate . On November 10, 1959, the Apostolic Vicariate Matadi was by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum raised to the diocese.

The diocese of Matadi is subordinate to the archdiocese of Kinshasa as a suffragan .
