Jean-François Cuvelier CSsR (born January 24, 1882 in Halle , Belgium , † August 13, 1962 ) was a Belgian Roman Catholic religious and apostolic vicar of Matadi .

Life

Jean-François Cuvelier joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and put on 8 October 1900, the profession from. He received on 22 September 1906, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On June 28, 1929 Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Apostolic Prefect of Matadi.

On July 23, 1930, Jean-François Cuvelier became the first Vicar Apostolic of Matadi and Pius XI as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Matadi . appointed him titular bishop of Circesium . The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Cardinal Wilhelmus Marinus van Rossum CSsR, donated him episcopal ordination on August 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Namur , Thomas Louis Heylen OPraem , and the Vicar Apostolic of Niangara , Robert Constant Lagae OP .

Jean-François Cuvelier resigned as Vicar Apostolic of Matadi in May 1938.
