The diocese Muranga ( lat. : Dioecesis Murangaensis ) is in Kenya located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Murang'a . It includes Murang'a and Kirinyaga Counties and the former Gatanga Division of Thika District in what is now Kiambu County .

history

Pope John Paul II founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quandoquidem aeternam on March 17, 1983 from cession of territory by the diocese of Nyeri and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Nairobi as a suffragan diocese.

On May 21, 1990, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Nyeri.
