history

The diocese of Pala was on December 19, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Qui Christo iubente from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Garoua as Apostolic Prefecture Pala . The Apostolic Prefecture Pala was on January 16, 1964 by Pope Paul VI. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Christi fidelium and subordinated to the Archdiocese of N'Djaména as a suffragan .
