Black Jackets

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Black Jackets are a gang of young people and adults from southern Germany . It was founded in 1985 and is currently represented in twelve countries with so-called “chapters” (local or national clubs). Visually and organizationally, the gang is based on the rocker subculture, although it is not a motorcycle club in the narrower sense, as a motorcycle is not a membership requirement. They belong to the so-called street gangs who are not considered part of the culture by all members of the rocker scene.

History and structure

In 1985, 18- to 20-year-old men from Turkey , Italy and the former Yugoslavia formed an informal group under the leadership of the youngster Sedat K. in the Castell youth center in Heidenheim . In order to show the community of the group to the outside world, all members put on black bomber jackets and the group called itself “Black Jackets”. Membership in the group made the immigrants feel self-confident at the time.

The structure of the Black Jackets is based on autonomous chapters (local groups) with presidents (local leaders), members (members), prospects (newcomers) and supporters (supporters). According to the police, there are 500 active members in the Baden-Württemberg area.

Arguments

In January 2009, 10 to 15 members of the Stuttgart-South Central chapter beat down two men of Russian descent in front of the Anna youth center on Gnesener Strasse with telescopic batons. The victims were seriously injured. Only two of the perpetrators were sentenced in July 2009 by the Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt District Court to terms of eleven and 24 months' imprisonment. However, these were suspended on probation , with the main perpetrator already on probation.

On June 27, 2009, 22 hooded members of the Stuttgart-South Central chapter beat Turkish youths on the playground of the Esslingen orphanage school. The victims were attacked with baseball bats, telescopic batons and iron bars and some were seriously injured, one of whom was in a coma for weeks . The reason for the attack was an alleged provocation by some of the victims who belonged to the rival Esslingen gang La Fraternidad (LF). The gang had wanted to take revenge on them. The gang members were arrested by 170 police officers in a raid shortly after the crime . The main hearing against 21 of them took place over several years before a large youth chamber of the Stuttgart Regional Court . The charges were triple attempted murder, dangerous physical harm and grave breach of the peace. For security reasons, the hearing took place in the multi-purpose hall of the Stammheim prison . Another accused was charged with complicity in dangerous bodily harm but was subsequently released. A few months after the incident, the Stuttgart-South Central chapter disbanded. On October 15, 2012, after years of custody , they were sentenced to long prison terms. A 22-year-old main offender received the longest prison sentence at seven years and nine months .

The police managed to prevent the confrontation through nationwide police measures.

In December 2010, around 20 members of the United Tribuns attacked four members of the Black Jackets in a car in Pforzheim.
