Lead trinitroresorcinate (also lead styphnate, lead tricinate, trizinate) is the lead salt of styphnic acid , an explosive nitroaromatic . It is used as an initial explosive in detonators and primers .

properties

Lead trinitroresorcinate forms orange-yellow to dark-brown crystals. The non- hygroscopic compound, which is insoluble in diethyl ether , chloroform , benzene and toluene , is poorly soluble in acetone and water (400 ppm ). The impact sensitivity is 2.5-5.0 Nm, the friction sensitivity 1.5 N. The deflagration point is 275 ° C. The detonation speed is 5200 m / s. It is very sensitive to electrostatic charges.

use

Lead trinitroresorcinate is a widespread and widely used initial explosive which , because of its extreme sensitivity to electrostatic charges, is only used in admixture with additives. He is (next tetracene ) the main component of Sinoxid -Anzündhütchen.
