Bobby Freeman (singer)

Bobby Freeman (* 13. June 1940 , † 23. January 2017 in Daly City , California, USA) was an African - American soul - singer , the songs for the label Autumn Records in San Francisco recorded. He is well known for his 1958 hit “Do You Want to Dance?” And his 1964 top ten hit “C'mon and Swim”. The latter recording was written and recorded by twenty-year-old Sylvester Stewart, later known as Sly Stone .

Freeman began his career at the age of 14 in a band called Romancers . These received a record deal with the "Dootone Label". At the age of 17 he had his great success “Do You Want To Dance?”, Which he wrote and composed himself. This was followed by a few hits until 1961, until after a short break in 1964 it was again listed in the hit parades. Another single was released in 1974, after which Freeman was no longer to be heard.
