Pike is released from prison. He, his friend Crane, and three other burglars (Booker, Chino and Hobbs) steal valuable paintings from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The leader of the group and one of the guards die.
The thieves take the loot to Florida, where they want to sell the pictures. There are arguments within the group. These escalate after they take a woman away with them.
