The Régio2N (or Régio 2N ) is an electric double-decker multiple unit from Bombardier Transportation , which was developed for the French state railway SNCF . It is designed for use in the French regions ( Transport express régional = TER). Bombardier describes the train as part of its OMNEO product platform .

The SNCF signed a framework agreement with Bombardier for 860 trains; By the end of 2013, 207 trains were firmly ordered - for ten regions.

construction

The Régio2N trains are articulated multiple units with Jakobs bogies . The train consists of alternating single-story and double-decker cars, which can be combined with one another using the modular principle. The trains consist of up to four different types of wagons: single-deck end wagons (14.30 m), double-deck end wagons (19.21 m), single (10.02 m) and double- deck intermediate wagons . The double-deck intermediate cars can be built in short (13.69 m) and long (15.44 m) versions. The double-decker middle cars have no doors, the latter are located in the single-story middle cars (2 doors per side of the vehicle) and the end cars (one on each side of the vehicle). The doors are 1.6 m wide and the entry height is 60 cm above the top edge of the rail . The one-story cars are 3.05 m wide, the two-story cars 2.99 m. The wagons are 4.32 m above sea level.

Different train configurations are offered:

  • Courte 1 (Short 1) : six-part, 80.945 m long, 350 (2 + 2 seating) or 400 (2 + 3 seating) seats, consists of a one and two-story end car and two one and two-story (short) middle cars;
  • Courte 2 (short 2) : six-part, 82.695 m long, 380 (2 + 2 seating) or 440 (2 + 3 seating) seats, consists of a one and two-story end car and two one and two-story (short and long) Middle car;
  • Moyenne (middle) : seven-part, 94.975 m long, 440 (2 + 2 seating) or 510 (2 + 3 seating) seats, consists of two one-story end cars and two one and three two-story (short or long) middle cars;
  • Longue (long) : eight-part, 109.910 m long, 520 (2 + 2 seating) or 605 (2 + 3 seating) seats, consists of a one and two-story end car and three one and two-story (short or long) middle cars;
  • Extra Longue (extra long) : ten-part, 135.375 m long, 660 (2 + 2 seating) or 770 (2 + 3 seating) seats, consists of a one and two-story end car and four one and two-story (short or long) Middle car;

The interior fittings can be adapted according to the requirements of the customer. For this purpose, the seat layout (2 + 1, 2 + 2 or 2 + 3 seating) and the seat spacing (greater legroom on national routes) can be changed.

history

Orders

The first 80 multiple units of the framework agreement were ordered on February 24, 2010 for the regions of Aquitaine , Brittany , Center-Val de Loire , Nord-Pas-de-Calais , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes . In March 2010, 49 additional trains were ordered. At the end of June 2013, the Picardy region ordered seven ten-car trains, the Pays de la Loire region ordered 13 trains in October 2013, which have a maximum speed of 200 km / h. In December 2013, the Ile-de-France region ordered 48 eight-car trains for the Transilien R line (Sud-Est). On December 25, 2013, the SNCF announced that it had ordered 10 trains for the Midi-Pyrénées region .

The following regions have ordered Régio2N trains:

The cost of a six-car train is around 10 million euros.

Production and approval

The trains are manufactured by Bombardier in Crespin in northern France . Nine pre-series vehicles were produced. These are used to test new components, to test the electrical and safety equipment and to optimize the equipment in the passenger compartment. This extensive test program was developed by Bombardier in order to be able to guarantee the reliability of the trains from delivery. The nine trains are constructed differently in order to be able to test different equipment. The first dynamic tests began on September 25, 2012. From October 2012, a multiple unit (Z 55501) was on the Velim railway test ring to test the electrical equipment. On June 5 and 6, 2013, the train was demonstrated to representatives of the SNCF and the French regions at the Wegberg-Wildenrath test center . A total of 100,000 km are to be covered in single traction and 20,000 km in double traction.

The first trains were originally due to be delivered to SNCF from June 2013. Finally, on July 25, 2013, series production began with the construction of the first train for the Rhône-Alpes region . Three trains are to be manufactured and delivered per month. The first three trains for Rhône-Alpes were delivered on December 23, 2013. Since then, these trains have been running test drives without passengers to check their reliability under real conditions.

An eight-piece set for the Center-Val de Loire region was exhibited at InnoTrans 2014 in Berlin.

The trains for the other regions are to be delivered by the end of 2018 [obsolete] .

Commercial use

The trains run on the Mâcon - Vienne and Ambérieu - Saint-Etienne routes as well as in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region .
