Born is a district of the municipality of Hohenstein (Untertaunus) in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .
geography
The place is surrounded by forest and away from major thoroughfares in the western Hintertaunus , above the Aartal .
history
Born was first mentioned in a document in 1275. At that time the place name was Burno . This old name indicates a well .
The Protestant church , a half-timbered church , was built in 1703. The first school dates from 1694. It was rebuilt in 1891. The council and baking house was built in 1822. The Lauberstegmühle, which dates from 1711, also belonged to the place.
On July 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Born formed the new large community of Hohenstein together with six other communities on a voluntary basis as part of the regional reform in Hesse . Born for a as for the other districts local district with the town council and mayor built.
