The Borschtschowotschnygebirge ( Russian Борщовочный хребет / Borschtschowotschny chrebet) is an up to 1500  m high low mountain range in southern Siberia , Russia .

As part of the South Siberian Mountains , it lies south of the Shilka River in southeastern Transbaikalia . To the south the ridge is bounded in the western part by the Unda which flows into the Onon , and in the eastern part by the Gasimur which flows into the Argun . The mountain range, made up mainly of granites , stretches for about 450 km from the confluence of the Ingoda and Onon to the Shilka in the west to the confluence of the Shilka and Argun to the Amur in the northeast. The ridge is rounded and poorly structured, the slopes mostly flat.

In the lower elevations, steppe vegetation predominates , higher up, from around 700 m, mostly into larch taiga and finally into Siberian stone pines - Krummholz . The peaks of the highest elevations, over 1200 m, are often bare. Therefore, Golez is part of the name of many mountains (plural golzy ; from Russian goly for naked , bald ): Undinski Golez , Botowski Golez , Bogatschinski Golez , Natschinski Golez ( the highest point at 1498  m ).

The actual mountains are practically uninhabited, with the exception of the westernmost part. It is crossed by two paved roads ( Nerchinsk - Balei , Sretensk - Gasimursky Zavod ).

In Balei on the southwest flank of the mountain range are significant gold deposits mined. By 2011, Norilsk Nickel and the Russian State Railways intend to build a 375-kilometer-long railway line , branching from the line to Krasnokamensk to the Gasimur Valley, in order to develop the molybdenum , antimony , copper , gold and other ore deposits there.
