The Brabecke is a 13.6 km long orographically left tributary of the Valme in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany . In the upper reaches, the creek is first called Osterwaldsiepen , then Gellinghauser Bach , before it is then called Brabecke .

geography

The Brabecke rises as Osterwaldsiepen on the northern flank of the Hunaukamm , about 500 m east of the Heikersköpfchen at an altitude of 745  m above sea level. NN . From here it flows mainly in northerly directions. She passes Osterwald in the west. Between Osterwald and Gellinghausen the brook changes its name and is now called Gellinghauser Bach . The stream Brabecke is named from Westernbödefeld . Then it flows through the Brabecke of the same name before it reaches Werdern at 375  m above sea level. NN at the eastern foot of the 745.1 m high Bastenberg , the massif of which it limits to the southeast, flows into the Valme .

The Brabecke overcomes a height difference of 370 m on its 13.6 km long run, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 27.2 ‰. It drains a 32.439 km² catchment area via Valme , Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

Tributaries

The Brabecke in the Hunau massif from the surrounding heights flow numerous, sometimes very short streams; somewhat longer streams only flow into the Bödefelder Mulde . The most important tributary is the palm tree with a length of 6.3 km and a catchment area of 10.473 km². The palm flows through Bödefeld and flows into the Brabecke below Westernbödefeld . Other noteworthy tributaries are the 3.3 km long Kohlhagensiepen, which flows into Gellinghausen, and the 2.2 km long Wallensiepen , which flows in Westernbödefeld, between the two named and also from the right.

Inflow to the Hennesee

Part of the water of the Brabecke is directed below Westernbödefeld through a tunnel into the Kleine Henne and from there through another tunnel into the Horbach near Remblinghausen . The Brabecke is thus partly part of the catchment area of the Hennesees .
