Brad Fast (born February 21, 1980 in Fort St. John , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey .

Career

Brad Fast began his career in 1994 in his hometown with the Fort St. John Flyers in a lower class junior league in British Columbia . Two years later he was signed by the Prince George Spruce Kings from the British Columbia Hockey League . For this, the defensive player completed three good seasons before he decided to study and graduated from Michigan State University in 1999 . Over the next four years, Fast continued his ice hockey career alongside his studies and went on the ice for the MSU university team , the Michigan State Spartans , in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . In the 1999 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the third round in 84th position by the Carolina Hurricanes . During this time, the Canadian won the championship of the CCHA several times and received several individual honors for his achievements. In 2003, Fast was elected to the League's First All-Star Team and was named the league's best defensive defender. During the 2002/03 season he played his first professional games for the Lowell Lock Monsters , the Hurricanes' farm team at the time, in the American Hockey League and had seven appearances in the AHL at the end of the season.

In the following season, too, Almost was mainly part of the farm team, where he came to 79 missions as a regular and scored 35 points . During the 2003/04 season he was used on April 4, 2004 for the first time in a game of the National Hockey League . In the game against the Florida Panthers he scored the goal to 6-6 just before the end of the game when he defeated Roberto Luongo in the Panthers goal. This was the last game in NHL history to end in a draw. Almost one in four players (along with Rolly Huard , Dean Morton and Raymie Skilton ) in league history to score a goal in his only appearance in the NHL. Also in the following season, the defender was mainly for the Lowell Lock Monsters in action, he also strengthened the Florida Everblades in the ECHL towards the end of the season and in the playoffs .

In August 2005 he signed a contract as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he never played and instead spent the entire season with their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs , in the American Hockey League. Afterwards, almost decided to move to Europe and accepted an offer of SCL Tigers at, for the Canadians in the National League A played. After a year he was involved in the German Ice Hockey League at ERC Ingolstadt .

There, too, it didn't last longer than a season and Fast signed a contract for the 2008/09 season with the South Korean club Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey , with which he won the 2010 and 2011 championship of the Asia League Ice Hockey. In July 2011 he decided to end his playing career.
