The brewing factory Potsdam, Forsthaus Templin is a historical ensemble of buildings in the Templin district of Potsdam near Lake Templin . In 1834 an excursion restaurant added to the previous property. The addition to the name Forsthaus refers to a building opposite.

history

In 1756, Christoph Andreas Martin (i), manufacturer and supplier of barchents and canvas , acquired a bleaching site in the Royal Heath near Caputh on the banks of the Havel . The property, including the larger residential building and two linen weaver houses, was soon called "Martinis Bleiche". The manufacturer extended his area until 1773 down to the water, the bank area of which formed a horn (called Templin) and was particularly suitable as a bleaching surface. He also planted nut and mulberry trees from 1764 and created a garden with vegetables, fruit and flowers.

Martini's property passed into the possession of her daughter and her husband Johann Christoph Brand in 1780. He was a master barksmith and continued to manufacture corresponding cloths here until 1796. Then the Marquis de Moustier , religious refugee and former French envoy in Berlin, acquired the property and other areas, but left it unused and sold it to the clergyman ( Canon ) Arnold Diedrich Tamm in 1797 . Tamm repaired all the buildings and had them upgraded to a manor house . He now ran a wood industry on 60  acres , but it soon no longer paid off. Initially (1814) businessman Schulze from Potsdam became the owner by means of foreclosure , but soon (1815) he was followed by the second bidder, businessman Karl Ludwig Krüger from Berlin. A real use is not done now but again, in 1819 the estate ( "Luxusgütchen") so that Kruger for 7500 Taler to the Lieutenant General Friedrich Adolf Ludwig von Bismarck resold. Then further changes of ownership took place:

  • 1832 particular Ferdinand Schulenburg,
  • 1834 Merchant Eduard Reinhardt, who first operated parts of the building as an inn, then called Tabagie ,
  • 1837 Emilie Henriette Reinhard bought the property at auction,
  • 1841 Amtmann Haupt leased the tobacco shop and continued to operate it.

There was already a change of ownership in the 1840s, but the Prussian state gave rise to a right of first refusal from the contracts, which it made use of in 1842. In 1846 the former Tammsche house (mansion) and the stable buildings burned down. The Prussian king personally decreed that a small Bavarian house should be built here, but this was not realized. For this a forester's house was built , into which royal forest officials moved. Reconstruction plans for the mansion were not carried out because of the 1848 revolution . The foresters continued to operate the building as an excursion restaurant , the establishment of which goes back to the Tabagie of 1834.

Road construction work (1849, 1958) made the inn more accessible.

In the 1930s to the 1940s the Gasthaus Templin experienced a great boom. Around 4,000 seats including a beer garden attracted visitors here, especially in summer. In addition, excursion boats from Potsdam and Berlin headed for the restaurant, for which there were three steamer berths and nine jetties for private boat owners. A beach restaurant catered for the swimmers directly on the waterfront.

After the war , the property fell to the state and excursions began all over again, and numerous visitors came again in the GDR era. For faster supply, the operator, the former HO, had the supply for the HOG Forsthaus Templin switched to self-service .

The Templin lido was built on the shores of the lake in 1959 through the backfilling of the finest sand , which brought even more visitors to the restaurant.

DEFA had the restaurant area converted by architects and craftsmen for filming in 1967.

With the fall of the Wall , the forester's house Templin was transferred to the real estate fund of the trust company due to the dissolution of the HO . In 1990 a private tenant was found who, however, carried out hardly any conservation measures and gave up again. Between 1997 and 2002 the property was empty.

Entrance archway

In 2002 two private individuals (Kirchhoff & Köhler) bought the entire building complex and part of the space. They had everything renovated and rebuilt and opened the restaurant on December 6, 2003 as a brewpub .
