Brazilian waxing
Brazilian waxing (English [brəˈzɪliə̯n ˈwæksɪŋ] ; "Brazilian waxing") describes a form of hair removal in the genital area , in which the pubic hair of women or men is removed using warm wax or sugar paste ( halawa ). A warm bath or compress shortly before the treatment opens the pores of the skin and makes them soft. This pretreatment makes it easier to loosen the hair follicles , which reduces both the pain during waxing and skin irritation. In contrast to the classic warm wax treatment, Brazilian waxing does not use strips of fabric or fleece, but rather the cooled wax is removed directly.

In general, Brazilian waxing is also known as Manzilian or Boyzilian for men . Similar to women, there are different versions:
- Brazilian Man : Removal of pubic hair on the penis shaft, scrotum and side of it; however, the pubic hair above the penis remains.
- Brazilian Hollywood Man : complete pubic hair removal. All hair on the penis shaft, above the penis , on the scrotum and to the side of it is removed.
- Double Iro : similar to the Brazilian Landing Strip for women, with two vertical lines left and right of the penis shaft.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage lies in the long-lasting smoothness and duration until the hair grows back. There is usually one to two months between treatments. With long-term use, both the amount and strength of the hair decrease, so the time between uses increases. Long-term use causes the hair to become finer and thinner, the hair roots are less developed, so that the hair becomes fluffier . In contrast to shaving, no hard stubble forms either, as the hair that grows back has soft tips.
Shaving the intimate area can also cause skin irritation, pimples or rashes in some women. Brazilian waxing is recommended by the President of the German Professional Association of Gynecologists (BVF) as a skin-friendly, albeit painful, alternative to shaving.
With certain body shapes in the intimate region ( Christina or Nefertiti piercing , Hanabira or Vajazzling ) the shave can be impaired. Waxing is also a good alternative here.
The epilation paste only sticks to the hair and not to the skin. As a result, the skin is significantly less traumatized , which is why the treatment is much less painful than waxing. Because of its soft consistency and when applied to the skin against the direction of hair growth, the paste sinks into the hair follicle opening and grips the hair further below. In addition, the glucose or fructose molecules , which are extremely small compared to hair, penetrate the structure of the hair. This enables the paste to be pulled off in the direction of hair growth without breaking off the individual hair in the hair follicle and a reduced tendency of the hair to grow into the follicle wall after epilation. It allows effective epilation of very short hair from two millimeters (depending on the part of the body). This is due to the paste sinking deep into the follicular openings.

One disadvantage is the painfulness of the procedure, but only during the first treatment or after longer interruptions. The perception of pain is subject to strong individual fluctuations. The procedure is described, at least generally, as being uncomfortable.
This problem can be counteracted if the beautician uses the correct technology in a technically correct manner. Cooling or the use of a pain reliever cream, on the other hand, have a detrimental effect on the duration of the treatment and the result (increased hair breakage). A specially trained beautician works solely with a special technique to reduce the pain to a tolerable level. As a rule, the applications are experienced as less and less painful after repeated repetition, as the hair also becomes thinner and less.
One problem can be ingrown hair. You can u. a. counteract this with regular massage with a loofah sponge .
