Breitenbach is a district of the city of Schmalkalden in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia.

Breitenbach is located southeast of Schmalkalden in a side valley of the Stillergrund . This side valley is located between Mittelstille and Springstille and with the state road 2613 connection to the valley in the direction of the city center, in which the state road 1118 runs.
history
Breitenbach was first mentioned on May 10, 1183. The community assumes 1285. In the course of time, the village was mentioned in documents for important events. The place belonged to the office of Schmalkalden of the Hessian rule Schmalkalden .
In 1974, Breitenbach was incorporated into Mittelstille. Together they then joined the city of Schmalkalden.
