The village of Haindorf is a district of the university town of Schmalkalden in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen and is located in the lower Schmalkaldetal in Thuringia . history
Haindorf was first mentioned in a document in 1335. Over the centuries the place was dominated by agriculture. The former pilgrimage church has been used since the Reformation as a parish church for the towns of Haindorf and Mittelschmalkalden and for a long time for Aue and Volkers. The place belonged to the office of Schmalkalden of the Hessian rule Schmalkalden .
Today Haindorf is a district of the city of Schmalkalden. It lost its independence on July 1, 1950, when it was incorporated into Mittelschmalkalden together with Aue. On June 1, 1994, Mittelschmalkalden was incorporated into the town of Schmalkalden.
